Today I spent about three hours with my IT tech person cleaning out a recent malware program which produces malware under the mask of being a Microsoft Securities Essentials "virus infected your computer" message. I took the bait and downloaded a program which was supposed to clean out the virus. hahahahaha Guess what: that was also part of the "your computer is infected" scam.
The tech told me that about 90% of computers are not adequately protected with properly updated anti-virus software. It has been such a huge problem that Microsoft has developed their own program which is available to Microsoft software owners under the name 'Microsoft Security Essentials'.
The new virus turns off the warning in other anti-virus programs so that they never tell you that you are infected. It took at least four separate hidden files cleaning proceedures to find the malicious code and completely clean them out of my system. The bit of code he found was 'donxdq'

25. Today is Break Even Day !
Have you heard the big news? Today is BREAK EVEN DAY! Today, August 12, 2009, is when all the money that has been earned by all the tax paying employees of the United States of America is the same as it has cost the US Government to operate. In other words, we, the taxpayeers, have "broken even" and can now start working for ourselves and our dependents.
By the way, some people believe that there is no clause in the US Constitution which requires us to pay taxes based on our income. We should all check out this concept. Today I looked for my website on a Google search and accidentally misspelled the name 'Google'. I have noticed that I get almost no responses from ads I leave in Traffic Swarm and other link exchanges.
Is it because EVERYONE does what I do - Delete everything in my junk mail in-box without ever looking at it ?

Are You Wathcing History Being Made?
Very seldom do we have the opportunity to see history being made in front of our eyes.
On January 20, 2009 - two days from now, as I write this - such an event will take place.
For the first time ever in American History we shall inaugurate a "black" man into the office of President of the United States of America: Not that there have not been great, historically important, African-American people in our country's history: Crispus Attucks, George Washington Carver and Martin Luther King, Jr. to name a few.
Personally, I never dreamed that the American citzenry would ever elect a person who had no distinguishing history of accomplishment, minimal senatorial experience, a product of the well known corrupt Chcago political machine as a person fit to hold the office of President of the USA. It seemed to me that the majority of the active electorate who selected him had just lost their collective minds.
Yet, it happened! Here we are ...
He said, "Change you can believe in!" Of course, that meant really nothing at all.
What it turned out to be was "back to the future" - he really meant that it was to be resurrection of the corrupt Clinton consortium.
But I keep telling myself it is my duty to support my president. Which in this case simply means praying every day that he will come to his senses and make a clean cut with his past and become a true American patriot.
One thing is for sure: he has got my attention and I will be watching intently to see what his actions say that his words have not yet said.
I will be watching for action that cleans the cancer of corruption from government. - the Institution of a fair flat tax which will render the IRS irrelevant. - action which secures our borders so that illegal immigration, drug smugglers and terrorists will not find it so easy to do business with us.
If just those things happened it would truly be a miracle and P-E Obama would become famous as the first mixed-race President who deserves the honor of the title: "President of the United States of America."

62. SEO is Interesting

I Can't find my bleeping website on Google!! ... ARRrr-gh!
Most people just give up, I think, when they can't find their website when they search on Google.
One real estate person had a wonderful and very useful website complete with lead capture forms and auto responders. Much better than most business websites. But he had given up his occupation because there was no potential buyers or sellers. Amazing! in THIS economy!
But ... The source code on his site showed no evidence of any meaningful keywords.
So often I find that building a website does NOT mean that it will be found after it is submitted to Google.
Why?
No key words in the source code... and sometimes, if there are good key words they are not positioned at the head of the string where the spiders want to see them.
One of the craziest things I have seen is where the "webmaster" simply used the first paragraph of the body text of the site in the key word content placing commas after each word.
Talk about insanity! Especially if the first three words of the paragraph are, "Welcome to my website!"
Of course, if you are one of the Veretekkies out there all of this is very obvious to you.
If you continue to believe the press release people and the blogging people who tell you that "labels" and "tags" and "comments" are optional you are making a big mistake. They are obligatory!
SEO is not that hard but it does take some clear thinking and a little time to find good key words.

65. Key Words Make the Difference - a BIG difference!
Now my site for simple better home based business health is #4 just above the fold on the first page of Google among 192,000,000 listings for that set of key words. Making progress!
Some of the reason that I enjoy high placement is that I have blogs connected to that business including this one you are reading right here.
I am also helping my friends get higher on Google as well. For instance: One friend has a business for which her web page builder created a total of seven web pages each with its own domain name which she ordered from GoDaddy and paid for. However her web sites did not place high on Google. So I checked the source code on the first page of her website and guess what! - There were no keywords at all between the head tags. So all I had to do was insert meaningful keywords (at her request) and Sha-Zam! she had five web sites all listed together at the top of Google. I started a new (for me) business and designed a simple website using Vistaprint's website builder. In less than two weeks I am on the first page of Google for the search terms: simple home based business health wellness

Wow - just did the reconfig of my traffic and SEO portals. Took me about 2 hrs. The key word search was the real challenge. I found out that it DOES make a difference where you put your key words in your chain of key words. Takes a while to experiment to see how much competition you have for your particular words. Try them one at a time and then in combination. Veretekk is a pretty good key word as well as Prendergast or Buth Hamilton. Seemed wierd to put the exact same key words in each portal but I did it - thanks fo Copy and Paste! I even deliberately used a mis-spelling of one word to see what happens.
